The Williamson County Commissioners Court extended the countywide burn ban to Jan. 18 during its meeting Dec. 18.

Despite drought and burning concerns, the county's soil is not dry enough for commissioners to ban holiday fireworks. The court is, however, advising residents use caution. The Texas Pyrotechnic Association has voluntarily decided not to sell missiles with fins and skyrockets with sticks, as they pose the greatest fire danger.
