Hundreds of holiday trees were made into mulch during the 2011 Cedar Park recycling event.
Residents of Cedar Park and Leander are invited to recycle their holiday trees during the first week of January.
In Cedar Park, the tree recycling event runs from 9 a.m.–noon Jan. 5. Residents can drop off their trees at the Cedar Park Recreation Center, 1435 Main St., Cedar Park, and early participants receive a complimentary tree sapling while supplies last. Boy Scout Troop 223 is also offering to pick up trees for a $10 fee.
Recycled trees will be made into mulch for landscaping in parks and other city-owned properties.
In Leander, the Parks and Recreation Department is accepting holiday trees from 6 a.m.–10 p.m. daily at Robin Bledsoe Park, 601 S. Bagdad Road. The last day to drop off a holiday tree is Jan. 7.
Any tree delivered for recycling must be free of decorations and lights.
