ExxonMobil announced today that it will bring an additional 2,000 employees to its campus that is currently being constructed along I-45 just south of The Woodlands. The additional employees brings the total number of workers at the upcoming campus to 10,000.

In its statement, ExxonMobil said the employees will relocate from offices in Fairfax, Va., and Akron, Ohio. The offices affected are ExxonMobil's Refining and Supply Company, ExxonMobil Research and Engineering Company, ExxonMobil Fuels, Lubricants and Specialties Marketing Company, which are located in Fairfax.

The ExxonMobil Chemical Company in Akron is also making the move. In addition, some positions from the ExxonMobil Research and Engineering Company and Chemical Company which are now located in Baytown will relocate to the new campus.

“Including additional employees on the new campus will provide even more opportunities for collaboration and innovation, supporting ExxonMobil's mission of delivering energy to meet growing global needs,” said Bryan Milton, president of ExxonMobil Global Services Company, in the company's statement.

The 385-acre campus will include research laboratories, conference and training centers, a child care facility, wellness center, office space and other employee amenities. ExxonMobil initially announced that the campus would house only offices relocated from the Houston area, including its upstream and chemical companies.

According to ExxonMobil, employees will begin moving to the new campus in phases as the buildings are completed, beginning in early 2014. Full occupancy is expected by 2015.
