IDEA Public Schools plans to hire 60 positions for the new Austin Independent School District in-district charter school, dubbed IDEA Allan. Those hired will include teachers and staff for the 2012–13 school year.
The nonprofit college preparatory school will “emphasize core curriculum, results-driven culture, core values and a no-excuses culture,” according to AISD.
IDEA will install a college preparatory charter program at Allan Elementary School and join the Eastside Memorial Vertical Team—Eastside Memorial High School and feeder schools.
IDEA has not yet clarified whether teachers who currently work at Allan Elementary will have preference during the hiring process, but affected teachers and staff at Allan and Eastside Memorial are guaranteed an interview if interested.
Senior Communications Manager Vanessa Barry said IDEA hopes to fill several positions with current AISD staff to help marry the two cultures and provide the best transition for students.
AISD has guaranteed jobs in the district for teachers who will be displaced as a result of the rehiring.
