FM 1431 Road Construction Improvements

The City of Cedar Park and the Texas Department of Transportation will host an open house on Feb. 21 to answer questions regarding improvements to FM 1431 within the city limits.

The proposed improvements to FM 1431 between Toll 183A and Sam Bass Road would add a raised median to separate traffic directions and also add a sixth lane. Turn bays would be constructed at selected locations.

TxDOT said the proposed project is needed to enhance safety, improve mobility and meet rapidly growing transportation demands. TxDot Spokesperson John Hurt said construction could begin as soon as fall 2013.

The open house is scheduled for 6 p.m. in the training room at the Cedar Park Police Department, 911 Quest Parkway in Cedar Park.

The open house will offer an opportunity for citizens to view aerial photographs, the proposed project corridor and preliminary project layouts. These materials are available prior to the open house at Cedar Park City Hall, 600 Bell Blvd. in Cedar Park and at the TxDOT Georgetown Area office at 2727 S. Austin Ave. in Georgetown.

Project team members requests public input during the FM 1431 project development. No formal presentation will be made at the open house but project team members will be available to answer questions. Comments regarding the FM 1431 improvement project must be submitted by March 5.

They really need to put in a partition all the way from 183 to I35. This road is very fast and dangerous since nothing divides oncoming traffic.
