A developer of the property surrounding the Lakeway Regional Medical Center shared their vision Jan. 17 for what they say could become one of the nation's premiere medical campuses.

A hotel, apartment complex, a 78,000-square-foot retail area and senior living facilities are part of the overall plan for the 93-acre tract surrounding LRMC, according to James Kerby of Phin-Ker Ventures, the developer of the project. Kerby said parts of the plan could change in the future.

"This is not a project that is not going to happen overnight," he said.

Although LRMC and surrounding tract of land are owned by different groups, the hospital and proposed development will complement each other, Kerby said.

"Each partnership truly relates with each other," he said.

The plan for the 93-acre development includes:

    •    Two restaurants

    •    Additional medical office buildings that depend on demand

    •    120-room hotel

    •    250-unit apartment complex

    •    Independent living facility

    •    Skilled nursing facility

    •    A 78,000-square-foot retail area

    •    A dependency/recovery center

    •    An approximately 4-mile trail system that will go throughout the campus

The LRMC and buildings on the surrounding tract of land will have a similar look to create an overall campus feel, Kerby said. The apartment complex, hotel and retail corridor will be among the first projects built out, he said.

"What we are proposing is Class A in every element," Kerby said .
