Hwy. 195 expansion receives final environmental clearance

The Wolf Ranch Town Center will offer some new options in 2012 to shoppers heading to the center along Hwy. 29 and I-35, including a gym and university.

A Gold’s Gym Express is slated to open March 5, and National American University is expected to open a campus by Feb. 18.

“We’re excited to offer these types of things because nontraditional uses, like a gym and university, are good for the shopping center because they increase the frequency and the duration and what a user can do at the center,” said Molly Cronin, assistant director of marketing with Simon Property Group.

Gold’s Gym Express will be located at 1019 W. University Ave., Ste. 100, in a 16,500-square-foot space.

Vice President of Communications for Gold’s Gym Dave Reiseman said Gold’s Gym Expresses offer lower membership rates than a regular Gold’s Gym and will have cardio and strength-training equipment as well as a cardio cinema, which is a movie theater with cardio equipment instead of seats.

Directly across from the Gold’s Gym Express location, in a space formerly occupied by Genghis Grill, National American University is expected to open in February. NAU is a regionally accredited school with 32 campuses across the nation.

Cronin said in between Kohl’s and Old Navy, Ross Stores Inc. plans to open a store by March in the former location of Linens ’n Things. The store carries designer and brand-name fashions for men, women, children and the home at discounted prices compared to department and specialty stores.

A LongHorn Steakhouse will also be coming in 2012 to Wolf Ranch, but Cronin said an opening schedule has not yet been determined.
