Area residents are invited to attend the Southlake Department of Public Safety Fair on Saturday to learn about crime prevention, fire safety and emergency preparedness. Children can learn about fire engines and police cars, while parents can learn more about getting involved with public safety volunteer groups. 

The event will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 25 at Bob Jones Park, 3901 N. White Chapel Blvd.

Meanwhile, the city has begun testing all of its fire hydrants to check that they work and are able to maintain proper water flow in the event of an emergency.

“The testing of all of the city’s fire hydrants is necessary to ensure the safety of Southlake residents,” Fire Chief Michael Starr said in a prepared statement. “Our number one priority is being able to protect our citizens from any fire danger.”
