Georgetown residents can make their holidays a little greener by recycling their live Christmas trees.

Residents are asked to remove tree stands and all garland, lights and ornaments before putting trees out for recycling. All recycled trees will be turned into mulch.

Texas Disposal Systems customers can have their trees collected on normal yard clipping pickup days. To view the collection schedule, visit www.recycle.georgetown.org.

For residents who miss collection days or do not have their trees ready, a special pickup is scheduled to be held Jan. 12. To schedule special pickup, residents must call TDS at 512-930-1715.

Free dropoff is also available Dec. 26–Jan. 31 at the Georgetown Collection Station, 250 W.L. Walden Drive. Regular fees apply for other items.
