Two Northwest Houston boys featured in Sundance Film Festival movie

The story called  “Hellion” is about two brothers who make Dennis the Menace look like an angel and drag their little brother into trouble all the time.

This was Tommy Hohl’s, of Cypress, first film and starring role. The 13-year-old TV commercial actor is hoping that the role boosts his career. With the film’s Sundance showing, his work was seen by established producers, directors and other actors in the film industry.

“This makes me want to keep getting at it and try to land some more parts like these,” Hohl said. “Now, I feel more confident. Every ‘no’ gets you one closer to a ‘yes.’”

Hohl got the role through his talent agency Page Parkes 713, which held an event where he met a casting director for “Hellion” who encouraged him to audition for the part. He went on to beat out more than 100 other actors.

Magnolia’s Deke Garner, 8, played the youngest of the three brothers. The six-minute film was directed by Kat Candler from Austin.

Looking ahead, Hohl has aspirations to write and direct. Hohl and a friend have a You Tube channel called TTJ Shorts 123 where they perform comedy sketches.
