A home decor store that has colorful products made by hand-picked designers, Nannie Inez opened its first brick-and-mortar location in November.
The store on South First Street is run by Deeyn Rhodes, a Texas native with a fashion background, and her husband. For the store, Rhodes has picked out modern furniture and home accessories that are largely whimsical and made by European designers.
"We just try to find unique pieces that are vibrant and colorful and might make someone smile," Rhodes said.
In addition to the retail location, Nannie Inez sells accessories and furniture on its website. The website lists detailed descriptions of the products that range from a floor cushion to a calculator.
Inez graduated from The University of Texas about 10 years ago with a degree in retail merchandising. After working in the fashion industry in New York and London, she moved back to Austin with her husband.
While it took longer than expected to find the right space for the store, Rhodes said the neighboring community has responded positively.
"It has been great spending 20 or 30 minutes chatting with customers," she said. "We are still new and trying to get the word out."
