After five years of planning, a P. Terry's restaurant opened in Westlake to an enthusiastic crowd June 1.

The Austin-based burger chain opened in the Village at Westlake shopping center, 701 S. Capital of Texas Hwy., in the former World Savings Bank location. Within hours of opening, almost all of the tables were full and a line stretched to the door.

"I've been excited about this for months," Westlake resident Cullen Desinor said.

P. Terry's owner Patrick Terry said he and his wife had wanted to open a Westlake location for years. He said Westlake-area residents frequent the chain's other locations and that he knew there was a desire for it in the area.

"This is a big day for us," he said.

The 3,500-square-foot location is the first P. Terry's to serve a caramel milkshake, offer all-natural bacon and have a double drive-thru.

P. Terry's serves all-natural cheeseburgers, chicken burgers, veggie burgers, french fries, milkshakes and breakfast items.
