A new 188-unit residential development at Ronald Reagan Boulevard and FM 2243 received preliminary support July 19 from the Leander City Council.
The council unanimously annexed the 253-acre property and approved a development agreement that allows a large lot subdivision with city-provided infrastructure.
The agreement also partially reimburses the construction of a 24-inch water line along the eastern edge of Ronald Reagan Boulevard from FM 2243 to the property's northern boundary near the San Gabriel River, according to the development agreement. The city will use portions of paid water impact fees, which are assessed to new projects in undeveloped properties to offset the cost of building infrastructure to areas not currently receiving city utility services, to reimburse the developer for increasing the water line size from 18 to 24 inches, Development Services Director Jim Bechtol said.
Developer Land Buddies LLC owns the property, where they intend to build 188 single-family units as well as greenbelt areas pending zoning approval. The project will be broken up into three phases, according to the developer's concept plan.
