The speed limit on Toll 183A in Cedar Park and Leander will increase from 70 mph to 75 mph, according to a news release issued by the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority.
The change will go into effect in early August along the 11.6-mile expressway. The increased speed limit is in response to a new state law that increased the maximum legal speed limit allowed on roads such as Toll 183A, according to the release.
A speed study was conducted to determine the appropriate speed limit. Drivers must continue to travel at the posted speed until the new signs are installed, which will not be until at least Aug. 1.
Editor's note: CTRMA will formally approve the policy change before officially enacting the increased speed limit. The agency previously planned to post the new speed limit signs July 12.
