Do you like this?

Grocery store chain H-E-B and the City of Round Rock are in the early planning stages of bringing a new store to the north end of the city.

City and H-E-B officials have already held a predevelopment meeting to discuss building the new grocery store, said Peter Wysocki, Round Rock Planning and Services director, on Oct. 9. The location being considered is on the north side of University Boulevard between University Oaks Boulevard and Oakmont Drive.

“There is a strong indication [H-E-B is] going to build there,” Wysocki said. “They could theoretically break ground there by the end of the year.”

Wysocki said the land being proposed for the grocery store is co-owned by H-E-B and Austin-based developer Barshop & Oles. Neither company responded to requests for comments regarding the development.

Wysocki said the developers have not yet applied for a site development permit, the final step required before building permits can be issued.

There are currently no grocery store options for shoppers in the immediate vicinity of I-35 and University Boulevard. The closest H-E-B to the intersection is at 1700 E. Palm Valley Blvd., 3.5 miles away.

“We believe it’s a good location from a matter of convenience for residents of that area,” Wysocki said.

Central market!!!

I live in georgetown but work in round rock. I am from California and missed trader joes when I came to Texas until my daughter in law took me to central market near her house. Loved it! But there are no stores anywhere near our area.

Central Market Please!!!

My wife and I currently make at least one trip to the central market on Lamar a month, and know of several others who do so as well. If HEB would consider a Central market in this area, we would frequent it over other locations on at least a weekly basis. The area around the proposed location consists of moderate to higher-end homes, which typically indicates a higher than average income level. These are the people who would be willing to pay a premium for Central Market's product offerings.

yeah for HEB

Wahooo! Its gonna be on my street
So Close to me!
Can't wait!

Central market please

There are too few options for healthy food in round rock. We dont need another HEB , a central market would be great!

HEB

People in Teravista have nothing to complain about. 3.5 miles to a store. Try living in Hutto and driving 8 miles to the nearest store. We have over 20,000 residents and HEB has no interest in putting in even a small HEB.

Central Market, Please!

I agree with the above...Round Rock has over 100 thousand people in the area. It can truly support a Central Market. It would be so welcomed by all. Those who prefer another plain HEB have never experienced a Central Market. If you build it...they will come. Please consider it...thanks!

CENTRAL MARKET

I agree, we should have a central market instead of another HEB. They have healthy lunch selections and a wide variety of foods that the regular HEB doesn't have. I would great business to be have them near the Outlet Malls as well.

H E B

It will be wonderful to have a HEB. Have been living in Teravista for 6 1/2 years and have been wanting a HEB ever since we moved in. Can't be soon enough. :)

Lynne Harner 196 days ago

Very Happy!

When we moved to Teravista a year ago, our main reservation was that there was no HEB Plus at University & I35--it looked like an obvious location for the store. The HEBs on 79 and on I35 in Georgetown just aren't very nice---(we moved here from the Stone Oak area of San Antonio, & had 2 great HEBs within a few miles). We are THRILLED at the news of an HEB on University! Now if we could get a Super Target & a Chick-fil-a....

Central Market - NOT - HEB Super

I agree..we already have two HEB's close by..why have another? The shopping area in and around Teravista is known for trying to bring pieces of Austin to RR..why not a Central Market? I drive there for all of my produce and fresh meats as it is. Would be WAY better than another standard HEB.

HEB

I would definitely agree about the congestion of traffic. On the positive--Our community within Teravista does a great job of informing us of that type of info. Plus, HEB is well known for being a business that takes care if their employees and customers!!! Gives so much to charities and EDUCATION;)

We are ready... NO WALMART!!

Perfect location for HEB

We have been living at Teravista for 8 years now and have been hoping an HEB would open close by. A grocery store is the one thing that has been missing in our area for some time. It will be great location. Can't wait.

Tom 204 days ago

Just down the Road

Super HEB is just down 1460 and HEB is just down 1431. They are both less than 5 miles from Teravista. How lazy are we? We need to build another one case a 10 min drive is too much?

Mashley 204 days ago

Central Market

I think a Central Market would be GRAND!! I can already see the outdoor eating area by the shade trees.

Jules 204 days ago

HEB

Be careful for what you wish for. Rush hour traffic at that part of University is already causing residents to search for alternate routes. Although convenient, the store and future development both in housing and retail, will make University Dr Round Rock's biggest headache.

Heb coming to North round rock

Can"t wait for HEB.It is much needed in this area.

HEB

I hope HEB comes and soon. We have to drive to Georgetown to buy our groceries. It will be wonderful to have a store so close. We have been here for 6 1/2 years in Teravista, and it has been tooooo long without a grocery store.

H-E-B

This is great news! Now I can get my ice cream home without melting in the summertime! Love that we could be getting an HEB so close to home!

Karen 211 days ago

H-E-B

Great news and about time now if we can only get a COSTCO to come to the area.

Daniel Vaughn Jr. 216 days ago

HEB in North RR is a MUST!

I do hope that it'll happen! I hate having to run 10 to 15 out of the way to get flowers for family and friends on special occasions. I can't wait!!!!

RR H-E-B

definitely a need - but more traffic in an area already beginnng to choke

New HEB

How super wonderful! Only other dream come true -- a chick-fil-a!

Michelle Moya 219 days ago

Awesome

Thank you HEB. Since I am getting on with age, it would be a welcome relief to drive nearby to HEB. Other locations too far.

Carmen 219 days ago

HEB!!!yeah!!

I am a resident of Terra vista and truly excited to see what is being built around us.As well as" I N OUt " now we need a king taco and shackeys!!!

RR HEB

Finally!!!!!!! Although I do wish it were a Central Market instead. This area is in desperate need of a Central Market or better yet a Whole Foods. I do however like the Natural Grocer in the 1890 Ranch shopping center though.

welcome HEB !!!

Welcome HEB !!!! We need you as soon as possible....so happy to hear the news.

wow! a lot of hebs

Wow! A lot of hebs in central tx! A new heb plus store is soon opening up next month on Lakeline Blvd, and 183.

HEB near Teravista

Just like Target and Wal-Mart's, everybody doesn't want them in their backyard. But once they are built, those haters are shopping those retailers 2-3 times a week.
So bring on that new HEB!

Round Rock HEB

I think that this an excellent location for an HEB. This has been one of our complaints about living in Teravista, the lack of a convenient grocery store. We usually shop at the HEB on Williams Dr. in Georgetown as the closest one, on I35 and University, is too small, too hard to get in and out of and doesn't have as much variety as the Willams store. The one on 79 is sort of a scuzzy HEB Plus and while it has a lot of variety, it tries to do too many things and it's also hard to get in and out of We're sure hoping it goes through.

Mike Looby 222 days ago

BAD IDEA

I don't need, nor do I want, an HEB in my backyard. I moved to Teravista to get away from that kind of development. There are already 4 other HEBs, 2 Randalls and Sprouts within 10 miles of I-35/University.

Before moving to Teravista, I lived near the development that became Techridge (I-35/Parmer). All those retail stores and apartment complexes destroyed my old neighborhood. Panhandlers moved in overnight on every corner of every intersection, graffiti, and huge increase in property crime.

I mention Techridge because that is the stated goal for the I-35/University area. I have met personally with one of the developers of the 7 apartment complexes planned to engulf Teravista and he said exactly that. He is the same developer behind Techridge.

Just look how quickly the HEB flagship store on 79 went ghetto.

HEB near Teravista

Yea, looking forward to it.

Larry Daubert 223 days ago

Crazy Decision

There are too many HEB stores in close proximity to this location. I hope Costco will build a store right next to this proposed HEB.

Scooter 224 days ago

Great news

HEB store is the only thing we were missing all the time, now soon that is also becoming reality - I am so happy ....God is great

Hope all approval process go smooth...

HEB

a grocery store would be a welcome addition to the University Dr/Teravista area

Johanna Maroon 224 days ago

HEB Plus

Although a Central Market would be nice, an HEB Plus would offer more variety as far as staples and household items. A grocer is very much needed in the area proposed!

Janet 225 days ago

Seriously?

Gosh, heaven forbid the people of Teravista drive 3.5 miles to the store while those of us in Hutto have to drive to another town more than 3.5 miles away!! Bad move HEB, bad move!!!

Tammie 225 days ago

Central Market would be Awesome

the area could easily support a Central Market and the perfect location would be University Blvd. in Round Rock.

Linda 225 days ago

Another vote for Central Market

A Central Market serving Round Rock, Pflugerville, Georgetown, Cedar Park and Hutto is very much needed. HEB - please consider building a Central Market in WilCo!

Lori 225 days ago

HEB Round Rock Univ Blvd

While I wish we had a Whole Foods/Central Market/Natural Grocer-type option closer, Central Market is SO incredibly expensive. I go to Natural Grocer in Cedar Park for what we call in our house, the hoity toity hippie foods. But for the main stuff, we really just need a good solid grocery store. And please, please, please, I beg of you HEB, no HEB Plus!

Ronda 225 days ago

HEB needs competition or something

How about they do something to replace the ridiculously small HEB on 620 and O'Connor? That is the ONLY store for the people in the Brushy Creek area and it's a joke, the parking lot is always jammed.

Bob 225 days ago

Central Market please!!

Round Rock has the following HEB's that I can think of right off the back:

HEB Plus on Hwy 79 (Palm Valley) and A.W. Grimes
Louis Henna and Greenlawn
Gattis School and Red Bud
620 and O'Connor

It would be AWESOME to have an HEB Central Market in Round Rock! I'm sure there are plenty of others who think the same!

Jessica Rios 225 days ago

Central Market, Please!

I agree, a Central Market would be great!

Susie 225 days ago

New Round Rock HEB should be a Central Market

Central Market please!!! We have nothing comparable in the area and it would be a HUGE hit!!!

Karen 225 days ago

HEB Central Market Please!

I agree that a Central Market is far more desirable! We have an HEB Plus on 79 (hassle of a store. I avoid it!), HEB on 29 (a bit of a drive & not ideal) and Sprouts at 620. I echo the need for Central Market!!

Karin 225 days ago

Central Market, please!

We've got enough HEBs within a reasonable distance, but we desperately need a Central Market! Sprouts is far enough, and even the new Whole Foods will be a hike, so please bring a higher quality grocer up here!!

Kate 225 days ago

Round Rock Central Market

With all the medical professionals, hospitals, shopping, and surrounding neighborhoods in this area, I think there is a strong demand for a Central Market with a cafe in Round Rock. I hate driving into Austin to shop at Central Market or Whole Foods. Please bring a Central Market to Round Rock!!!

Nicole 225 days ago

Please build soon.

I moved here last year. I was so disappointed at the distance to a supermarket. We need more choices east of I35 on University. HEB or Central Market would be awesome.

Danni D 225 days ago

HEB on University

I have to go every week to one of the Georgetown HEB's or the one out on 620. I would much rather have one here close by Teravista!

Judy 225 days ago

just an HEB would be great

Central Market would be great, but I'm so tired of driving 15 mins. to get to a grocery store. I have given lots of business to CVS, Sprouts, Target, and Walmart b/c HEB is too far out of my way. I live on FM 3406 in a large neighborhood; not out in the country!

jenny 225 days ago

N. Round Rock HEB

HEB would be great, but I would prefer a Central Market in the area..

Fritzie Canas-Perez 225 days ago

HEB / Central Market

A Central Market would be wonderful! Think of the business from Georgetown & surrounding areas!!

Jules 226 days ago

HEB off University

Traffic is horrible there already. It would be nice for a Central Market!!!!!

Wendy 226 days ago

Great News!

I wish they would consider a Central Market - that would be a perfect for this area.

Another New Location?

Would be nice if HEB would open up a new store in/around Manor. The closest two HEB's are Elgin and Austin (I35 & Parmer). I lived in RR for 13 yrs. and missed shopping @ HEB. There is nothing out here yet but I heard Wal-Mart, CVS, and Auto Zone are coming. Would love to have an HEB out here. :)

Jeremy 226 days ago

I literally screamed with excitement when I read that Teraista residents might finally be getting a convenient HEB. Hallelujah!!!
