Darleen Bordelon opened The Motley Menagerie in Kyle in November 2003 as a combination tearoom and boutique.

The restaurant’s menu items are made from Bordelon’s recipes and include offerings such as creamy vegetable soup, quiche, bread, sandwiches and desserts. A wooden bookcase is stocked with dozens of glass canisters full of dried teas.

The boutique portion of the store features items collected by Nyxie McDuffy of NL2S, (meaning Nyxie Loves to Shop). Accessories, clothing, home furnishings and artwork are a few of the types of items customers can browse.

Bordelon said that in the fall, The Motley Menagerie will begin offering its space as a venue for parties and wedding-related events. Items from the shop will be available for lease to wedding parties.
