Austin-based Forestar Group has opened a new 289-unit apartment complex called Promesa in Northwest Austin.
All buildings are certified in Austin Energy Green Building, a program that encourages sustainable building.
"We wanted to build a property that would stand the test of time," said Jim DeCosmo, CEO of Forestar, which owns land and real estate and develops new property.
Promesa offers one-, two- and three-bedroom units with amenites such as swimming, water volleyball, dog park, tech center, coffee and tea bar and a lounge.
The apartments are located directly across the street from Vandergrift High School.
At the ribbon cutting, Forestar planted an oak tree in the front of the property. Forestar also donated $5,000 to The Nature Conservacy for the Balcones Canyonland Conservation Plan. The canyonland is located adjacent to Promesa.
