Applications are now being accepted for the 2012 H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards under the early childhood category. The award was created to support public or private schools or nonprofit learning agencies that focus on the care and education of children under age 5, according to Kelli Epp, H-E-B’s media coordinator. Five regional finalists will be awarded $5,000 and one statewide winner will receive an additional $25,000 grant. The deadline for entry is Jan. 6 with the statewide winner being announced at a May 4–6 ceremony. For criteria and guidelines, visit www.heb.com/education.
