Madres opened at the site of a previous Mexican restaurant, so the decor and building already matched the cuisine. Diners walk in the front door past a large fountain, and pass by a full bar before being seated, all while traditional Mexican music plays over the stereo.
Although Madres offers an extensive menu, there are also several lunch specials for those on a budget during the day. The lunch special with chicken fajitas was served on a bed of grilled onions, lime and pepper. Although it was probably a smaller portion than the regular dish, there was enough meat to fill several tortillas, and it was full of flavor.
Most of the restaurant's other menu items are priced at or under $10. There are several variations of enchiladas, tacos and fajitas made at Madras to please one's palate. You can find enchiladas con mole, enchiladas al carbon, fajitas rancheras, Tex-Mex fajitas and several more choices on the menu daily. Most dishes are served with rice and beans, and the fajitas come with homemade tortillas, guacamole and pico de gallo.
Since Madres has a full bar, there are a variety of adult beverages from which to choose, ranging from beer to wine to speciality drinks. Several flavors of margaritas—frozen or on the rocks—are available as well, including strawberry, melon, mango and raspberry.
In addition, the restaurant offers Sunday Brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
