Merche features a Spanish and Italian infused menu with an upscale dining atmosphere.

Cypress' Spanish and Italian fusion restaurant Merche is hosting an Italian-inspired wine dinner at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6. The four-course meal pairs food with distinctive wines from some of the most popular regions of Italy.

The featured wine pairings highlight the well-known flavors found throughout Tuscany and southern Italy. The first course—a homemade tomato basil soup—is paired with Banfi San Angelo, which is a medium-bodied and aromatic pinot grigio. The second wine, a full-bodied white known as Stemmari Dalila Grillo, dons from Sicily and boasts floral and tropical flavors, which will cut through the flavors of the second course, a wild mushroom ravioli in port wine and rich Morel cream sauce.

Melini Chianti—a medium-bodied ruby colored wine from the heart of Tuscany—is offered with the main course, braised beef Osso Buco and parmesan vegetable risotto. The dinner is finished off with a sweet sparkling red wine, Montepulciano D'Abruzzo, which is served chilled alongside a cassis-flavored Panna Cotta, or Italian-cream based custard.

The cost for the wine dinner is $38, which includes all four courses and wine flight. Tax and gratuity is not included and reservations are required.
