Sports fans know finding the right place to watch the game every week is crucial to the overall game day experience. With the first Houston Texans preseason game set for this Saturday, the opening of Prime Time Sports Bar and Grill in Tomball has come at just the right time.

One of few sports bar venues in the Tomball area, the restaurant is not likely to disappoint. The owners are already planning several football season specials, including prime rib every Sunday, discount beer prices and 35 cent wings on Monday night.

While all the traditional bar food is available, the menu at Prime Time offers a diverse list of sandwiches, pizzas and burgers, making the eatery a tempting lunch or dinner stop for non-sport fans as well. Notable menu items include the Pulled Pork Tacos, with red cabbage and pico de gallo ($7.99), the Wrangler Burger, with BBQ sauce and bacon strips ($10.99) and the Patty Melt, with Texas Wagyu beef and caramelized onions ($8.99). Some of Prime Time's entrees that are sure to be hits are the Beer Battered Shrimp ($11.99) and the Grilled Ribeye ($15.99).

The bar offers more than 20 draft beers on tap, with new options rotated in monthly, as well as an extensive list of cocktails. The bar also features daily shot specials.

The restaurant is divided into two main sections. You can take a seat at a booth or table in the spacious dining area, or grab a table or stool in the back by the bar, where there's also a pool table, dartboards and several arcade games. With more than 20 televisions throughout the dining and bar area, and two projector systems broadcasting games on large screens, you are guaranteed to have a full view from wherever you sit.

With poker nights planned for Tuesdays and Thursdays, karaoke on Wednesday and live music on Friday, Prime Time is making an ambitious push to offer a wide variety of entertainment spanning the entire week. While it's only been a few weeks since it opened, it already has a few things working in its favor: a solid menu, a competent staff and football. In the state of Texas, those three things can take you a long way.
