At its June 19 session, the Buda City Council approved the concept for the Jackson Tyler Norris Memorial Skate Park, planned for 480 S. Loop 4. Named in honor of a Hays High School teen who died in 2011, the park's design includes a half pipe and grind ledges, as well as a memorial garden area.

The 10,000-square-foot park is expected to be completed by February or March. The cost for the project will be $349,967.35. Plans include a proposal to raise funds for a shade structure and a memorial sculpture, which would require an additional $15,000.
