Repairs to the Stassney Lane bridge over I-35 are scheduled to begin Aug. 26. The bridge was hit by a truck hauling an oversized load July 25, damaging a beam over the southbound lanes of the highway.
According to the Texas Department of Transportation, the damage did not compromise the safety of the structure. Traffic was restored after being closed for several hours.
One westbound lane of Stassney Lane remains closed on the bridge and will reopen once repairs are complete.
According to TxDOT, the repairs and southbound lane closures will take about two and a half weeks to complete. Work will be done between 9 p.m.–5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday nights. Crews will not work Labor Day weekend. The repairs will cost $85,000.
