The Hays CISD board of trustees approved a $118.2 million operating budget Aug. 30 that included no tax rate increase for the sixth consecutive year.

The budget also calls for no staff or program cuts, does not increase class sizes and allows for a pay increase for teachers and all other employees, among other details.

The district's budget is based on projected student and property tax revenue growth. According to the district, next year’s student population will be 16,450 students, up from the 2011–12 population of 15,900 students. www.hayscisd.net
