Scholars Academy, a public charter school for grades K–5, opened Aug. 27 at 612 Malone St., Tomball. The academy, which is a part of the Shekinah Learning Institute, is a tuition-free school. Sandy Shanks, administrative assistant with Shekinah, said the academy will offer an 18:1 student teacher ratio. 281-516-0993
