The Austin Chamber of Commerce has named Charles Barnett, president and CEO of Seton Family of Hospitals, its 2009 Austinite of the Year. The Chamber will honor Barnett at its annual meeting Feb. 9.

Actress Dana Wheeler-Nicholson lives in Austin and plays the role of struggling mother Angela Collete on locally filmed, critically acclaimed high school drama “Friday Night Lights.” The fourth season premieres Wednesday, Oct. 28. at 8 p.m. on DirectTV’s The 101 and will subsequently air on NBC next year.

The Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum hosted a satellite conference between an astronaut on the International Space Station and a group of students on Aug. 12. Hundreds of people went to the museum to see astronaut Col. Timothy Kopra, a graduate of McCallum High School in central Austin.
