AUSTIN — Austin Community College District board of trustees voted Tuesday night to lower the college's property tax rate to $0.0946 per $100 valuation, according to an ACC news release.
The approved Fiscal Year 2010 rate is 0.8 percent less than the 2009 rate of $0.0954 per $100. It is the fourth straight year for ACC to lower its tax rate, which has decreased 4.5 percent since 2006. The average tax rate for Texas community colleges is $0.15 per $100, according to the news release.
The 2010 tax on a home valued (after exemptions) at $100,000 would be $94.60, compared to $95.40 in 2009.
“ACC provides an outstanding return on investment by providing quality education and workforce development at an affordable price,” board chair Nan McRaven said. “Our community continues to invest in ACC, and that investment has made a difference in the quality of life for all Central Texans."
The board also voted to increase the property tax exemption for senior citizens and disabled residents to $105,000, an increase of $10,000 compared to the 2009 exemption.
