Community Impact Newspaper is Central Texas’ fastest growing news organization, and the most widely distributed news source for relevant and useful information at the community level.

In September 2005, Community Impact Newspaper launched its first edition in Pflugerville and Round Rock. There were three full time employees including the publisher, John Garrett, and the company officed out of the game room in John’s house.

John’s vision to build a company that would provide local news didn’t stop in Pflugerville. Every six months for the following two years, the company launched a new edition in another area of Williamson County and north Austin.

With the launch of the Southwest Austin edition in April 2008 and the Central Austin edition in November 2008, readers in more than 375,000 homes and businesses now receive local news from a Community Impact Newspaper, and the company has 58 employees on staff.

The company launched the Northwest Houston edition in September 2009 reaching over 105,000 addresses in the fast growing Cy-fair area. The Houston office is located near the Jones Rd. / West Rd. intersection.

John, along with his wife Jennifer, have created JG Media, Inc. with a commitment to creating a company culture that strongly identifies with integrity and passion, and they are dedicated to building strong employee relationships.

At a time when print media is on the decline, Community Impact Newspaper has restructured an old product – the community newspaper – and turned it into an important tool by providing readers useful, informative news.
