Drivers statewide can now access real-time road traffic and weather conditions online or through their phones.

The Texas Department of Transportation last week launched a new online map called Drive Texas, which features live updates on weather pattern feeds, road closures, accidents and construction. Drivers can also locate Travel Information Centers and safety rest areas on the map, and in select areas can view traffic camera streams.

“People are mobile and want traffic and road conditions before and during their trip,” said Margo Richards, TxDOT’s travel information division director, said in a statement. “Drive Texas will make it easier to plan trips, avoid problem areas, and reach destinations quickly and safely. The goal is to make travel as safe as possible."
