Alamo Drafthouse CEO/Founder Tim League and staff led members of the media and guests on a tour of the under construction Alamo Drafthouse Slaughter Lane Feb. 2. The dine-in theater is slated for a March 8 soft opening and a March 22 grand opening.

Plastic covers the new chairs in one of the Alamo Drafthouse Slaughter Lane's eight theater rooms. When completed, there will be 832 seats in the entire theater. Architect Richard Weiss said the theater has a new "no bad seat in the house" concept: The closest row of seats is 22 feet away from the screen—the exact height of the screen itself.
When completed, moviegoers at Alamo Drafthouse Slaughter Lane will watch digital films projected onto wall-to-wall screens. Two of the theaters will be able to play 3D films. CEO/Founder Tim League said that the company supports and collects 35-milimeter film, it will not play the format at this location.
Not all of Alamo Drafthouse Slaughter Lane's eight theaters are the same size. The theater has a smaller 32-seat theater (not pictured) for private parties and smaller screenings. Conversely, CEO/Founder Tim League said he was interested in one day building a large theater. He said building restrictions prevented him from doing so at the Slaughter Lane location.
Alamo Drafthouse Slaughter Lane's projection booth is a long narrow hall where the theater's Sony digital projectors will be housed. CEO/Founder Tim League said he liked how spare the space was and the projectionist's job is to ensure a perfect movie presentation for customers.
Cocktail bar The 400 Rabbits was created as a hangout spot "before, after or in spite of your movie," according to Beverage Director Bill Norris. CEO/Founder Tim League said The 400 Rabbits, named for an Aztec legend, will feature agave and tequila products, have a small menu based on Latin American street food and serve brunch on the weekends.
