The weekend-long course is geared toward those who want to learn medical care beyond traditional emergency services that could be used in activities like hiking and backpacking. Participants receive a three-year certification for meeting training requirements in backcountry emergency response, and the course is approved for those ages 14 and up by the American Camping Association and Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lunch. 8 a.m.–5 p.m. $140. Rob Fleming Park, 6055 Creekside Forest Drive. 281-210-3800. www.thewoodlandstownship-tx.gov
