The Big Pink Bus, a mobile mammography unit powered by Seton Healthcare Family, will be providing free breast cancer screenings for women who cannot afford a screening and/or are without health insurance throughout Central Texas from now through October.
New technology allows medical professionals to take x-rays from within The Big Pink Bus and detect breast cancer in its earliest stages. The Big Pink Bus is the only free mammogram screening program in Central Texas that follows up with a patient from screening to diagnosis to scheduling treatment.
Seton highly encourages all women ages 40 and older to receive a mammogram once per year, as the American Cancer Society states that one in eight women in the U.S. will develop breast cancer during their lifetime.
Screenings are available by appointment only and are open only to women who are age 40 and older and have not had a mammogram in the last year. To schedule an appointment, call (512) 324-3375 and visit TheBigPinkBus.com for more information.
