On Sunday, July 17, the Umlauf Sculpture Garden & Museum will celebrate the centennial of 20th century American sculptor Charles Umlauf's birth (1911-1994) with 100 cupcakes and lemonade.

COST: Special $1 admission, in celebration of Umlauf's having taught sculpture & life drawing at the University of Texas for 40 years.

WHY SHOULD WE CARE: Not only is it the centennial of this noted 20th century American - and Austin resident's - birth, but in Texas there are more Umlauf sculptures in public placements (parks, museums, libraries, churches) across the state of Texas than work by any other single sculptor.Austin alone has more than two dozen! Besides where else can you get wonderful art, a peaceful Sunday stroll in a shady garden, and a cupcake all for ONE dollar?!
