Williamson County Brown Santa kicks off holiday toy drive

GEORGETOWN — The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office Brown Santa program will kick off its 2009 toy drive Nov. 21 at Wolf Ranch Town Center, IH 35 and SH 29 in Georgetown. Santa will be part of a motorcycle parade with the Blue Knights International Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club through Wolf Ranch at 6 p.m., stopping to light the Wolf Ranch Christmas Tree by the fireplace.
The sheriff’s office will offer photos with Santa for $5 donations from 6:30-8 p.m., and the tree lighting will begin at 6 p.m. The donations benefit the Williamson County Brown Santa program and the Simon Youth Foundation. Photos with Santa will continue at Wolf Ranch on weekends starting Nov. 28 until Christmas, excluding Dec. 12. Photos will be taken on Saturdays from noon-6 p.m. and Sundays from 1-5 p.m.
Williamson County Brown Santa rolls out toy donation barrels Nov. 16 for their annual toy drive. Brown Santa provides assistance to families living outside the geographical city limits of any town or city within Williamson County that does not provide a similar program. Monetary donations to Brown Santa are used to purchase toys, books and other items needed to make the holidays brighter for children in families living at or below the U.S. poverty level guidelines.
