TAYLOR — Taylor council members approved an animal control ordinance modernizing the city’s current policy. Moving forward, the city will allow a “trap- and-neuter” return program, which allows officials to trap wild animals, neuter or spay them and then return them into the wild.
The ordinance also restricts the number of livestock owned by people who live in designated residential areas, but allows residents to have an unlimited number of pets as long as the owner can properly take care of all of them. The previous ordinance limited residents to four pets.
The council also held a second public hearing for a new Municipal Drainage Utility System to handle the disposal of storm water runoff. After the hearing was closed, the ordinance creating the new system was approved unanimously. City officials will hold a workshop with council members to decide on a fee schedule for the new system. Property owners will be responsible for paying the new drainage utility fee.
