GEORGETOWNCitizens of Georgetown interested in running for a soon-to-be open seat on the city council can file paperwork for the election starting Feb. 8. The filing period will remain open for one month, until March 8.

Districts 3, 4, and 7 will have seats open for election. Council members serve three-year terms representing one of seven single-member districts. District 3 is currently filled by Keith Brainard and covers the southwest section of Georgetown. Bill Sattler is the council member for District 4, which covers northwest Georgetown, and Ben Oliver is the council member for District 7, which covers southeast Georgetown.

Those interested in running for a seat on the council must be at least 21 years old and live within the specific district he or she would like to represent.

Interested applicants can pick up an information packet at City Hall, 113 E. Eighth St.
