Area chambers of commerce honor local businesses, residents

GEORGETOWN — Georgetown, Hutto and Taylor’s chambers of commerce celebrated the accomplishments of community members during 2009 at the annual banquets. During the ceremmonies held in the first quarter of 2010, the chambers honored outstanding businesses, organizations and citizens.

Here is a summary of the honorees:

Georgetown Chamber of Commerce Annual Banquet Jan. 29

• Small Business of the Year: Justus Foods
• Citizen of the Year: Rhonda Farney, Georgetown High School girls’ basketball coach
• Owen Sherrill Lifetime Achievement Award: Ron Swain, Senior Adviser to President
• Chamber Volunteer of the Year: Marlene McMichael, McMichael & Company LLC
• Jesse “Buz” Sawyer Award: Sport Clips
• Ambassador of the Year: Gary R. Brown, CPA
