Couple puts personal touches on area homes

The Eulenfelds, owners of Eulenfeld Interiors, have made a business of turning houses into homes. Craig, with a background in construction, works with his wife, Tammy, to remodel homes from floor to ceiling.

“When a customer comes in with a builder and they aren’t sure what they want, I tell them, if they use our services for flooring, then I will help them pick out the details so the house will look professionally done,” Tammy said. “I love working with people. They tell me I have a good eye for details.”

Craig works the construction side along with a team of employees installing flooring and other work, while Tammy helps customers decide which products and colors go best together. Although she has no formal training in interior design, Tammy said it is something she has always loved doing.

Craig started his construction and flooring company 18 years ago, and in 2000, Tammy began working full time. She opened a show room in Taylor to give customers a one-stop shop for their interior design needs.

“It has been a blessing to work with my husband,” Tammy said. “Some people can’t work beside their husbands, but we have a lot of fun together. We are blessed in other areas as well. The guys who work for us are the very best. They take great pride in what they do and are very good. We are just a great big family.”

The couple helps customers build and design the interiors of new homes, as well as redo the interiors and exteriors of existing homes.

The Eulenfelds can help with anything from carpet, sheet and plank vinyl, granite and silestone, hardwood and laminate, ceramic and porcelain tile, countertops, backsplash design, Hunter Douglas window treatments, interior and exterior painting, wallpaper, faux painting, crown and chair rail trim to painting and staining.

“Everything we do is quality of service first,” she said. “Craig established that when he began the business, and we feel that is the most important part. Our self worth comes from that. We take great pride in giving the best to others.”

Along with creating a successful business, Tammy said the primary benefit of her job is building friendships with her customers.

While Tammy was visiting her ill father in the hospital, she happened to see a former customer. The two became friends and she credits the woman’s sense of humor with helping her through a difficult time.

“We wouldn’t have that friendship if I hadn’t done work for her,” Tammy said.

The Eulenfelds’ design process

  1. Get to know the customer’s personality.
  2. Map showing location of Eulenfeld Interiors
  3. Help figure out what features or items will fit that person’s lifestyle.
  4. Find out what furniture the customer already owns or plans to buy.
  5. Determine any items the customer would like featured.
  6. Design the room with those considerations in mind.
