Drivers who fill up at some Williamson County gas stations may have noticed the fuel they are buying contains up to 10 percent ethanol.
Hutto authorizes $10 million for water improvements

At its Jan. 14 meeting, the Hutto City Council voted to issue up to $10 million in Certificates of Obligation, a form of debt incurred by a local governments that does not require a bond election, to fund utility and park improvements. The council began the public notice process to issue the bonds in November and priced them Jan. 13. The certificates are unrelated to the General Obligation bond election in early November.

Southwestern chemistry professor receives $231,950 grant for biomedical research project

Lynn Guziec, assistant professor of chemistry, will receive $231,950 over the next two years to work with a colleague at The University of Texas at Austin on a project that could enable physicians to detect diseases earlier and more easily than current methods.
Williamson County Commissioners Court adopts fiscal year 2009-2010 budget

The Williamson County Commissioners Court adopted a general fund budget for the 2009-2010 fiscal year of $121,216,314.77. The adopted budget was less than the county’s current amended budget of $123 million. This budget includes substantial increases in the cost of indigent health care and employer paid health care, some of which were offset by reductions by various department heads and elected officials, including a $1 million reduction by sheriff James Wilson.
