Williamson County Judge Dan Gattis instituted a burn ban for the entire county effective immediately June 26. The ban will remain in effect until further notice. It is a violation of the ban to burn any combustible material outside of an enclosure which serves to contain all flames and/or sparks, or order such burning by others. The burn ban prohibits the burning of household yard waste, such as leaves, grass, brush and other yard trimmings. It also prohibits burning to clear land of trees, stumps, shrubbery, or other natural vegetation. The purpose of the burn ban is to mitigate the hazard posed by wild fires during the current hot, dry weather by curtailing the practice of outdoor burning. This order may be enforced by any duly-commissioned peace officer.
