Construction on a new H-E-B at the corner of Hwy. 290 and Mason Road in Fairfield has begun, and the new store is expected to open by the end of the year.

“Cypress is an ever-growing community,” said Cyndy Garza-Roberts, director of public affairs for H-E-B. “Density there continues to grow, and we thought there was an opportunity to serve customers in that area.”

The store will be about 100,000 square feet, which is comparable to the Cypress Market store at Barker Cypress Road and Hwy. 290, Garza-Roberts said. She added the company has not decided what type of H-E-B the store will be. Construction is being handled by Williams Development Company.

The Fairfield store will not be the only new H-E-B in Cy-Fair. Last month, the company announced plans to turn a former Randalls at Jones and West roads into an H-E-B by the end of the year.

Do you know If this HEB is going to incorporate a first community cr union? Sure hope so!! I don't want to travel to the barker location to just go to the bank when we have a HEB closer.
