The South Montgomery County Woodlands Chamber of Commerce Mobility Team will meet at 7:30 a.m. Oct. 16 to receive an update on the I-69 federal highway project.

Ashby Johnson, deputy director for the transportation department of the Houston-Galveston Area Council, and Roger Beall, advanced project development director for the Texas Department of Transportation, will give the latest on the project.

The I-69 project is a federal highway system linking major thoroughfares from Texas to Michigan. More than half of the system's highways are located in Texas, beginning in South Texas towns such as Brownsville, Laredo and McAllen and stretching northeast with a portion of the system running along U.S. 59 through east Montgomery County.

The chamber mobility team is made up of local leaders and officials from The Woodlands, Montgomery County, Shenandoah and Oak Ridge North. The team is chaired by Robert Heineman of The Woodlands Development Company. The team meets monthly to hear and discuss local mobility and transportation projects.

The meeting will be held in the Brady Room of the chamber offices, located at 1400 Woodloch Forest Drive.
