The Rayford Road Civic Association will host a town hall meeting with Rep. Kevin Brady, R-The Woodlands, at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 15 at Gateway Baptist Church at 2930 Rayford Road in Spring.
“I’m excited to see the positive growth and development in this area and to learn more about what Rayford Road’s future has in store,” Brady said. “The best is yet to come for this dynamic area of Montgomery County.”
Russell Martinez, Brady’s deputy district director, said Brady’s main focus at the meeting will be tax reform and the future of tax reform. However, Martinez said other topics may come up, such as health care and immigration. The event will also offer residents a chance to ask Brady questions following his presentation.
Martinez said the desire to host a town hall meeting was mutual between Brady and the RRCA, and the U.S. representative has an interest in the Rayford Road corridor.
“I think it’s a mutual interest,” Martinez said. “Obviously this portion of Montgomery County is growing. There are a lot of things going on with growth and development and the creation of this organization.”
RRCA President Paul Cote said the association is excited to host Brady. Cote said the RRCA plans to host other speakers similar to Brady in the near future and believes it is important for the residents of the area to know their community leaders.
“I think a lot of the people on the east side of I-45 haven’t had the opportunity to meet the leaders of the area, and the RRCA is bringing that opportunity to the people who would like to hear from them,” he said. “We’re really excited to have the opportunity to serve the area and be able to build on that excitement. The residents of our area are realizing more and more the importance of having representation.”
