Grand Parkway Segments F1 and F2
Although construction began last September on Segment E of the Grand Parkway, work is not expected to begin on segments F-1 and F-2 for at least another year. Both segments have been granted environmental clearance from the Federal Highway Administration, but design work has not been completed.
When constructed, Segment F-1 will span about 12 miles from Hwy. 290 to Hwy. 249, starting near the master-planned community of Fairfield. Segment F-2 will also be approximately 15 miles in length, and it will stretch from Hwy. 249 to I-45, near the future ExxonMobil corporate campus that is under construction at I-45 and the Hardy Toll Road in northern Harris County.
According to forecasted traffic counts from the Grand Parkway Association, 25,000 vehicles are expected to travel down F-1 everyday by 2020, while 41,600 drivers are expected to use F-2 everyday. By 2035, those counts increase to 52,400 for F-1 and 68,600 for F-2.
The funding needed for the two segments is $341 million and $370 million, respectively.
