Bee Cave

LAKE TRAVIS1. Highlands Boulevard opened traffic to Bee Cave Feb. 11. The road will allow drivers to travel from Lakeway to Bee Cave without the use of RR 620. The project was funded with more than $5.5 million from the Rough Hollow Master-Planned community development by Haythem Dawlett and about $2.2 million from Travis County. 2.This summer Maudie’s Bee Cave will open its sixth location. The new location at the Shops at the Galleria will have a full-service bar and offer the same menu items as its other Tex-Mex restaurants throughout Central Texas. Visit www.maudies.com.

3. Scrapology, a scrapbook and paper craft store, opened Feb. 1 at 915 RR 620 S. at the Lakeway Boulevard intersection. Adult scrapbooking classes will be held year-round, along with children’s camps during spring and summer breaks. 4. Locally owned and operated by Eero Laakso and Thomas Rut, Absolute Propane opened recently at 15100 Debba Drive. The startup propane marketing company is serving the Lakeway and southwest Austin area. A propane cylinder filling station is available for pick up, and Absolute Propane plans to begin delivering residential propane tanks in the next month. 5. Tomlinson’s, a pet store serving the Austin area since 1946, opened its fifth location. Its grand opening will be held March 6 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Vista Ridge Shopping Center, 2303 RR 620 S., Ste. 180. Food representatives, local trainers and dog rescue groups will be on-site. On Feb. 5, Concordia University Texas held an inaugural induction ceremony at The Oasis for its Athletics Hall of Fame to honor a select group of Concordia’s athletes. Some awardees included Major League Baseball player Scott Linebrink, who donated $300,000 to Concordia University Texas to assist in the construction of the new Concordia Baseball Field, and Wendell Holmes, who holds Concordia’s record in basketball for best rebounding average. The event has raised more than $700,000 for the American Cancer Society for the last seven years. Relay teams of eight to 16 people take turns walking the track throughout the night.
