NORTHWEST AUSTIN — Austin Police Department officials released an update this afternoon on the victims from today’s plane crash at the Echelon Building at 9430 Research Blvd.
Authorities said the person reported missing this morning is still unaccounted for; however, family members have been notified. They would not release the individual’s name.
According to a release from APD, 13 injuries were reportered with 11 being treated at the scene. The other two victims, both males, were transported to the hospital with critical injuries.
One victim was later airlifted to Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, said Lisa Cortinas, spokeswoman with APD.
Officials would not confirm information about the pilot due to an ongoing investigation by APD, Austin Fire Department, Federal Bureau of Investigation and the National Transportation Safety Board. Officials said the FBI is taking the lead on the investigation.
After being shut down most of the day, the Georgetown Municipal Airport has reopened. According to witness reports the suspect’s car was reportedly found in or in front of Hanger I15. Authorities were investigating what they thought was a suspicious package. However, they later said that the content of the vehicle was not dangerous.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the FBI Command Post at 210-650-6199.
