CEDAR PARKEddie Hurst announced in early February his intentions to run for Cedar Park Council Place 6.

Eddie Hurst“It would be an honorable responsibility and it would give me a chance to show our children there are more things in life than just making a dollar, and that’s service to others,” he said.

Hurst’s dad spent a 30-year career in the U.S. Army, leading the family to such places as Italy, Germany, Hawaii and California.

Hurst attended the University of Maryland in Munich, West Germany where he received an associate’s degree in criminal justice. He later studied music at the University of Texas at El Paso before leaving the program to pursue a 15-year food service career.

In 1995, Hurst moved to Austin, studied drafting at ITT Technical Institute in 1997, then launched an engineering consulting firm.

For the past eight years, Hurst has served on Austin’s Construction Advisory Committee. He is also a member of Cedar Park’s Planning and Zoning Commission.

Hurst has three daughters—Nicole, 18, Jasmine, 16 and Lillian, 14—with his wife of 19 years, Monica.

If elected, Hurst said his priorities would include supporting major business developments, improving health care benefits for first responders and advocating a public transit system.
