WILLIAMSON COUNTY — Charles Schwertner has received 5,048, or about 56 percent, of early votes in the Republican primary election for District 20 of the Texas House of Representatives as of 9:20 p.m. March 2.
Milton Rister received 2,102 votes, or about 23 percent, of early returns. Former Cedar Park City Councilmember Stephen Thomas earned 1,162 early votes, or about 13 percent. Patsy Williams received 675 early votes or about 8 percent.
No Democrats entered the race.
The candidates jockeyed for Rep. Dan Gattis’ position. Gattis said he would not seek reelection when he announced October 2009 his intentions to run for the Texas Senate. He later withdrew from the Senate race.
District 20 includes portions of Williamson County such as Cedar Park and Georgetown, and all of Milam County.
