General Manager's Note — January 2009
By Laura Wickett Friday, 23 January 2009
One of my favorite things about working for a newspaper is getting to know the details of projects that impact our lives. This month, we’ve taken our Regional Report one step further with a snapshot of the major development projects in Central Texas.
I’ve had the opportunity to attend city meetings discussing local needs in the legislative session. Leander officials are looking to propose a bill in the state legislature to provide additional funding for mobility projects in our region and perhaps even across the state. While the bill is still in the early stages of development, the initiative by dedicated individuals inspires me.
As the projects in Cedar Park and Leander take shape, more people will travel to this area to enjoy the new amenities. Several hotels are popping up in Cedar Park, and Leander’s first hotel is planned and poised for the growth.
I feel the same way about our region — planned and poised for growth. I look forward to seeing the projects currently underway and the plans that seem like a far-reaching thought come to fruition.
The decisions made by our leaders today will have a lasting impact on our community. Our staff looks forward to keeping you informed along the way.
