CEDAR PARK
1. Tumblers
Zero Gravity Gymnastics and Cheer opened in early February at 601 E. Whitestone Blvd., Ste. 500. The gymnastics and cheer studio offers a wide array of classes for children 18 months and older, as well as summer day camps and mothers’ and parents day out groups. 2. Pharmacy opens
The CVS/pharmacy on the corner of Bagdad Road and New Hope Drive opened April 27. The store is open from 7 a.m. - 10 p.m. seven days a week; pharmacy hours are 8 a.m. - 10 p.m. Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Sunday. 3. Heritage festival
The second annual Cedar Park Heritage Festival is scheduled for 3 - 10 p.m. May 31 and will be held at Heritage Oak Park, 875 Quest Parkway. The festival will feature live music by Duck Soup, as well as a championship hamburger cook-off, arts and crafts fair, big wheel races, video game adventures, face painting, martial arts demonstration, inflatable playgrounds, food concessions and other activities. 4. Scream for ice cream
Located at 11301 Lakeline Blvd., Ste. 200, Zer0° Ice Cream opened in early February. The ice cream shop serves more than 40 flavors of homemade ice cream with a wide variety of mix-ins and homemade waffle cones and bowls. The shop also serves smoothies and cookies made from scratch. 5. Financial institution

6. Call the movers
Titan Solutions Group, a consulting firm that provides staffing and technology solutions, will relocate in July to the Parmer Medical and Professional Center, 11901 Parmer Lane. 7. 1890 Ranch
The retail complex is growing once again. Famous Footwear opened in April, and Spicy Pickle and Hayashi Sushi and Grill opened their doors in the middle of May. Chic-Fil-A held a ceremony at the end of April to celebrate the ground-breaking for its new store.
8. Fire safety
The Cedar Park Fire Department’s fourth firehouse opened recently at 150 Church Park Road. Located near Brushy Creek Road and Parmer Lane, the fire station opened May 3 and is fully functional. For more information, call 401-5220 or visit www.cedarparktx.us.
9. Apartment living
Verde Brushy Creek, a new luxury apartment community located at 1101 Brushy Creek Road, held a ribbon cutting ceremony May 16 and is accepting lease applications. 10. Summer education
Destiny Learning Center is a new nonprofit organization aimed at providing faith-based educational development to children and adults in the community. Located at 921 W. 11. Southwestern Grill
Serving Tex-Mex with a twist, Tin Star is set to open its newest restaurant in late June or early July at 1550 Cypress Creek Road, Ste. 100. Four-legged friend
A ceremony was held April 8 to welcome the newest member of the Cedar Park Police Department to the force. Scout is a German Shepherd police dog purchased with a $5,000 donation from Del Monte Pet Products and Milk-Bone in partnership with H-E-B. Get Moving
Cedar Park On the Move is a fitness program aimed at getting residents to exercise more and eat a balanced diet by providing walks and educational nutritional information. 12. Game On
The Cedar Park Public Library, 550 Discovery Blvd., will host two reading programs this summer. The first, Game on! Texas Teens Read.08, is designed for children 12-17 years old. The theme focuses on all kinds of games and involves fun gaming activities throughout the summer. The second, Texas Reading Club Jubilee: 1958-2008!, is for toddlers and children up to 11 years old. Squeaky clean
Cleansmart Cleaners, 2301 S. Lakeline Blvd., opens in late May. The shop will be open six days a week, closed Sunday and offers men’s shirt cleanings at $1.09 each.

Growing Up
The Growth Coach is a company that helps business owners, executives and professionals work more efficiently to make more money. 14. Kids in Leander
Leander’s first pediatric office opened April 22 and is now accepting patients. Children’s Clinic of Leander, 502 Crystal Falls Parkway, Ste. 15. Mortgages for Texans
Robert English, president-elect of the central Texas chapter of the Texas Association of Mortgage Brokers, has opened a new mortgage brokerage at 106 W. 16. The eyes have it
Texas Family Eye Care, 800 Crystal Falls Parkway, Ste. 4, moved from Cedar Park to Leander at the end of April and is now accepting patients. 17. Event center
The St. Mary Margaret church is being renovated and will be open for weddings and events in June. The Old Town Chapel and Rising Star Banquet Hall, 311 US 183, was built in Leander nearly 70 years ago, and will be available for weddings, Quincenieras and other community events. Police Academy
The 2008 Leander Police Department Citizen’s Police Academy will be June 9 – Aug. 4. The nine-week course includes lectures, demonstrations and hands-on exercises that will provide training similar to a police recruit. The academy will meet Monday nights from 6-9 p.m. and is free of charge. Enrollment is limited and classes fill up quickly. 18. Summer Reading
The Leander Public Library, 1011 S. Bagdad Road, will host two summer reading programs, one for teens and the other for children. The programs start June 16. There will be visits from storytellers, musicians, puppeteers and magicians and more held throughout the summer. All programs are free.
